You can easily practice from a lying position, and you can do it with the help of a caregiver. Lie down comfortably, relax your body, and close your eyes. The caregiver should hold both of your feet and lift up your legs slightly. The caregiver can then begin to shake the feet and bounce the legs gently up and down. You will feel the vibration starting from the feet and spreading to the whole body. Lying in bed for a long time can stagnate the energy circulation of the body, so practicing a mild vibration of this sort can make the body feel refreshed and lighter.</p>
<p>If you have arthritis or other joint problems&#8230;</p>
<p>Pain in your joints may become distracting or discourage you from practice. To combat this, start with very slight movements in the joints to bring increased circulation to these parts. Also, if you do feel pain, concentrate on exhaling the pain along with the breath. Visualize healing energy from the brain stem traveling through the body to the joints. As the pain decreases, increase your vibration to envelop the entire body.</p>

He was very distracted, however, because he found that his health began to deteriorate. He could not sleep or sit still for long because of serious kidney problems. He began to practice Brain Wave Vibration and had immediate improvements in his health, and was finally able to focus properly for meditation. He says he now knows what Buddha meant when he said, &#8220;Find truth in your body; outside you will not find it in thousand years.&#8221;</p>
<p>It is very important to pay attention to the experience of energy in your body as you practice Brain Wave Vibration. Energy is the real stuff of life, and it is through energy that oneness reveals itself. If you can quiet your mind sufficiently, you will sense this in your body as a subtle but consistent vibration.</p>
<p>If you allow this sensation to expand, you will not sense any end to this energy and you will glimpse the infinite nature of the universe.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I have been teaching Brain Wave Vibration for years. Previously, I called it Jin-dong, which literally means &#8220;vibration exercise.&#8221; The purpose of this training was to open the energy system of the body for improved health. In those days, the focus was on the flow of energy through the body in the more conventional sense of traditional Asian medicine. Through the years, how¬ever, I have come to realize the role of the brain in this process. Thus, the name for this training is now Noe-pa-jin-doncj, the word noepa meaning &#8220;brain wave.&#8221; The brain orchestrates our bodily functions, and it is through the brain that we make the choices that determine the quality of our life experience. As my understanding has increased, I have come to see that the brain is the key to mental and physical health.</p>
<p>My initial interest was to create health through the enhanced flow of energy in the body. I began simply by teaching stretching exercises in a park. At first, only one person came a man who had suffered a stroke. I worked with him to stretch his body and to open the meridians that carry energy through his body. Over time, he gained more and more movement, attaining a remark¬able degree of recovery.</p>

The brain stem wants to create balance between the sympathetic nervous system, which produces the stress response, and the parasympathetic nervous system, which is in charge of the rest-and-digest response. When our bodies are kept in a constant state of imbalance, disease is the likely result.</p>
<p>The part we have control over is the prefrontal cortex, the thinking part of the brain. To put it simply, people today think too much. The thinking brain is constantly sending messages that keep our bodies in a state of alarm, and they never have ample time to recover. The trick is to quiet the thinking mind and gain control over the content it produces so that the brain stem has a chance to coordinate the equilibrium that it exists to create.</p>
<p>As you begin to practice Brain Wave Vibration, notice the kinds of stories you have been telling yourself. Think of the manifestations of stress in your life and try to discover their root. Maybe they show themselves physically through headaches, muscle tension, or even disease, or mentally through bad habits like nail-biting, mood swings, or overeating. Ask yourself what kind of mental story is connected to these manifestations&#8211; &#8211; stories about your own insecurities, the shortcomings of other people, and the inadequacies of the world around you. When you can stop telling yourself the same negative stories over and over again, you will be able to face the challenges of your life with strength and courage.</p>

Brain Wave Vibration, by quieting the thinking mind, allows you, at least for a few moments, to tap into the greater rhythm and flow of the universe as a whole.</p>
<p>LLTIMATELY, YOU CAN DO the training in any number of different postures, and you can create your own postures as you learn to follow the flow of energy and the needs of your body. You can do the training with or without music, but you may find that music with a strong basic rhythm will help you get into the natural rhythms of your own body more quickly. The most important point is to just enjoy yourself and to let your thinking mind drift away.</p>
<p>These postures are the most basic forms of Brain Wave Vibration, and I recommend that you follow* them in the beginning. After that, you can start improvising according to the dictates of your bodily needs. Immediately following this chapter you will find some variations that many students have found particularly useful.</p>

<p>Many people carry around a lot of emotional baggage that prevents them from fully experiencing the joy of life. The primary goal of Brain Wave Vibration is to help you return to a simple state of being, a place where you can experience yourself and the world without thought or judgment. <p>In Asian medical systems, health of the body is dependent on the flow ol life energy through the body. This energy, called ki or chi, runs through channels in the body called meridians. <p>Just by moving your body, you will activate your brain in ways that sedentary behaviors, no matter how mentally rigorous, cannot. Why? Because all parts of your body are connected to your brain, and when you move, many diverse parts of your brain are stimulated simultaneously. And beyond that, Brain Wave Vibration helps shift mental emphasis away from the thinking part of the brain, the prefrontal cortex, so that all parts of the brain can begin to function in beneficial ways. This is the stage I call &#8220;completion of the soul.&#8221; Once you have accomplished success in the &#8220;real&#8221; world, however you choose to define that, you can achieve the butterfly stage by turning your mind toward a different kind of success in which you find full expression of your highest sense of self. This can begin anytime in life, but older adulthood is the ideal time, a time when many other longings have been fulfilled.</p>
<p>Completion means reaching a state of full awakening, in which you feel and live according to a continuous state of oneness. This means stepping beyond the ego of the small self to fulfill your mission of service to humanity. Imagine what a difference we could make if we really tried to put this to full use. Enough people producing positive brain waves could change the world, don&#8217;t you think?</p>
<p>A change in collective human consciousness essentially requires an invisible and inaudible communication between brains. As you learn to orient your brain toward positive information, the whole of humanity will be lifted up as well. That may seem overwhelming at first, but it requires only that you first change your own brain to work in a wav that is most healthy for your own body and the Earth.</p>
